Analysis Data

More than 500,000 data of meteorite analyses are stored in MetBase, such as:

Chemical analyses:
Bulk chemical compositions (oxide compounds)
Major, minor and trace elements in chondrites, achondrites and silicate phase of other types
Major, minor and trace elements in iron meteorites and metal phase of other types
Mineral chemistry: olivine, pyroxene and plagioclase compositions

Isotope analyses:
Noble gas isotopes and cosmic-ray exposure ages
Cosmogenic radionuclides and terrestrial ages
Light stable isotopes (oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen)

Physical properties:
Thermoluminescence data (NTL, ITL)
Densities and Porosities

Bulk chemical compositions Usually wet chemical analysis (oxide compounds) of bulk samples are stored in this section.

Major, minor and trace elements in non-irons Mostly INAA, RNAA and ICP-MS analyses of bulk material.

Major, minor and trace elements in iron meteorites Most iron meteorites are analyzed using INAA (instrumental neutron activation)

Cosmogenic radionuclides Long-lived radionuclides 10Be, 14C, 21Ne, 26Al, 36Cl, 41Ca and 53Mn and calculated terrestrial ages.

Light Stable Isotopes Oxygen, carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen isotopic compositions and abundances of carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen in meteorites

Noble gas isotopes Single step and stepped combustion analyses of helium, neon and argon isotopes as well as cosmic-ray exposure (CRE) ages.

Porosities and densities Measured and model porosities as well as bukl and grain density data for stony and stony-iron meteorites

TL data Measurements of induced and natural thermoluminescence (ITL, NTL) of chondrites and achondrites.
